Background

Design a functional, durable and sleek floor stand for Microsoft that effectively captures consumer attention within a visually stimulating Best Buy environment. A display shoppable from two sides that accommodates an assortment of software cards as well as bundled product. Product assortments will vary and change so the display needs to be easily modified to fit diversified product mixes and clearly communicate the different Microsoft Office software options for home, student and office.

Execution

Overall form of the floor stand was designed to maintain visual consistency with the style of Microsoft’s consumer electronics products creating consistent branding across Microsoft presence at retail and generates brand recognition with the shopper. A fabricated two-sided pylon was designed with split changeable magnetic graphics on the header. A positive lifestyle image of a user proudly showing off her finished project, shows the consumer that the software is uncomplicated and an essential application for everyday computer processing.

Results

Originally shipped to 800 Best Buy locations nationwide. The lift in sales was positive and generated a demand for a second production run. Compliance was virtually 100% with no damages reported in the field. As new products are launched, update kits including magnetic graphics and point of purchase graphic boxes will be produced.
